West Tisbury-based author Paul Schneider is giving a talk, Finding the Narrative Voice in a World of Facts, this Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum. Mr. Schneider is the author of several popular nonfiction titles, including the best-selling The Enduring Shore: A History of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. With a sold-out venue and nearly 1,600 people set to descend on the Portuguese American Club in Oak Bluffs tomorrow, the Big Chili Contest 2010 is bigger than ever. And the event sponsored by Vineyard radio station WMVY is sure to produce more smiles than ever for all parties concerned, from the chili chompers to the chilly children who receive clothes that the Red Stocking Fund buys with the proceeds.
Island Grown Dinner
L’étoile restaurant chef Michael Brisson will work with Jack O’Malley from the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School culinary arts program and his students to present dinner on Monday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. The Island Grown Initiative event will be held at the culinary arts dining room at the high school.
There will be a yoga class for Haiti this Friday evening at the Yoga Barn, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All levels are welcome and wanted in the class led by Mollie Doyle.
Class is free, but every dollar donated, up to $1,500 will be matched by the Yoga Barn for the people of Haiti, through Partners In Health (pih.org), which is providing medical care, food, shelter and aid to the people through its existing clinics in Haiti.

Kids’ Improv Classes
A new session of after-school improv classes for all ages with IMP theatre company will begin Feb. 5. Classes take place at the Edgartown School and are open to students from across the Island.
