A special weekend art exhibition, Wilfrid Dantis: Images of Haiti, will open on Friday at the Vineyard Haven library with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. The show will be hanging on Friday, July 9, from 1 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, July 10, from 10 to 4 p.m.
Wilfrid Dantis, a native of Haiti, will show and discuss his vibrant paintings of his homeland.

EEP is a movie about a creature that is half-girl and half-bird, or is it half-bird, half-girl? She goes on a series of adventures and meets new people and friends. Along the way, she is followed, appears on the news and is rescued by a firefighter.
With sweet harmonies, songs both charming and funny, a guitar, mandolin, banjo and accordion and more talent than you can fit on the band bus, the boys of PigPen Theatre Company will unpack their latest work for all ages this week, outdoors at Featherstone Center for the Arts.
Runaway With Me, You Beauty
Ever wonder what Pleiades are? Nymphs of course, daughters of God’s strong man, Atlas, and mama nymph, Pleione. Beginning this weekend, and running until July 17, they’ll be helping everyone get in touch with their inner rock goddess at the new musical, Runaway Beauty Queen or The Lost Pleiad, at the Vineyard Playhouse on 24 Church street in Vineyard Haven.
Boston-based blues rock outfit Ernie and the Automatics will perform at Nectar’s on July 8. The show is a benefit for the Island Affordable Housing Fund in partnership with the Music Drives Foundation, headed up by the band’s guitarist Ernie Boch.
Sao Paulo to the Brickyard:

Brooklyn-based photographer and lifelong Chilmark summer resident Gabriela Herman will show her photography at the Chilmark Public Library from July 3 to 23. Titled From the Brickyard to Old Farm Road, the exhibit showcases primarily up-Island imagery that highlights an Island that has always been close to her heart.
An opening artist reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 3.
