With Covid-19 now racing through the Vineyard community, boards of health issued a public health message Tuesday urging Islanders to take steps to protect themselves from infection.

Larkin Stallings, owner of the Ritz Cafe in Oak Bluffs, opened his first club in 1976. It was called My Oh My, and sat at the intersection of Homer avenue and High street in Palo Alto, Calif.

The Martha’s Vineyard Commission voted unanimously Thursday night to approve an expansion project for Shearer Cottage, the historic Oak Bluffs inn that has been central to the long tradition of African Americans vacationing on the Vineyard.

A proposal to create a Martha’s Vineyard housing bank appears to be headed to voters in the spring after the Edgartown and West Tisbury select boards agreed this week to put a revised version of the article on their annual town meeting warrants.

The Edgartown select board voted to appoint Rob Morrison as the new town shellfish constable Tuesday. Mr. Morrison has been deputy constable for the past 10 years and is a marine biologist and Edgartown native.

Capping weeks of debate, the Edgartown select board voted 2-1 Tuesday to place a revised housing bank article on the warrant for the April annual town meeting.
