Yoga Festival
The third annual Martha’s Vineyard Yoga Festival is now selling tickets. The event takes place on Labor Day weekend from August 30 to Sept. 3 and features a cast of thousands. Or at least that’s the way it seems based on the both the quantity and quality of instructors, cooks and health professionals taking part in the festival from both on and off-Island.
The third annual Martha’s Vineyard Yoga Festival returns this year, and while you have until Labor Day to stretch with the best of them, yoga devotees will want to purchase tickets now.
Prices range from $20 for a one-hour master class to $40 for a two-hour workshop. After June 1, prices increase by $5, and are $10 dollars more at the door.
Too much sugar in your life? Well, to help introduce her new practice, BodySong Wellness, Lily K. Morris is offering a free workshop this Thursday, May 17, that focuses on sugar issues.
Ms. Morris is a certified health coach by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and has recently added holistic health counseling to her established massage practice.
Women’s Workout
Curves of Vineyard Haven will give a free, 30-day membership to any non-member who visits the club during regular operating hours throughout National Women’s Health Week, May 13 to 19. This annual awareness week, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health, begins each year on Mother’s Day.
Allergy Talk
On Wednesday, May 2, the Martha’s Vineyard Family Center Allergy Support Group is presenting a talk called Managing Atopic Dermatitis and Eczema. The event will be led by Karol Timmons, a pediatric nurse for 32 years who specializes in asthma, atopic dermatitis, eczema, and food allergies.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day
There will be Zumba. There will be yoga. There will be a petting zoo, face painting, swim assessments and healthy food.
The event is the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day and it takes place tomorrow, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day is dedicated to teaching kids the value and fun in physical activity.
It’s all free all day long.
Last year over 400 kids of all ages attended the event. There is even a “wee ones” play course, to get those toddlers toddling.
