Cronig’s Plans a Power Play With Solar Panels in Parking Lot

Summer shoppers seeking shade may be able to do so this summer while powering up. Vineyard Power hopes to install a 12,200 square foot array of solar panels over the Vineyard Haven Cronig’s parking lot. The array, which will supply a quarter of the store’s energy needs, is made up of three “solar canopies,” which will also feature six electric car charging stations.

Oak Bluffs town administrator Michael Dutton resigned on Friday morning, capping weeks of tension and speculation over whether he would remain on the job. And as the dust settled over the weekend, the mood in town was decidedly bleak amid mounting financial problems and a workforce strained by low morale and uncertainty about the future.

As details came to light this week about even more alleged violations to state public bidding laws in Oak Bluffs, town selectmen were set to meet again this morning behind closed doors to consider the possible dismissal of their town administrator who is at the center of the controversy.

The executive session, the fifth in a series of closed-doors sessions to discuss the performance of Michael Dutton, is set for 9:30 a.m. today.

“My concern was the audiences might laugh at the shark,” he said in a telephone conversation from his Hollywood home on Tuesday.
