Her name isn’t Martha. But she’s become as synonymous with the Vineyard Haven consignment store as if she was selling clothing out of her own closet. She’s there all the time, and speaks of her employees like they’re family.

Before she found consignment, Margaret (Mags) Mirko worked as a painter, a bartender, a cleaner, a chef and a gutter installer. While working as a pastry chef at the Hudson River Club in Manhattan, her friend Leslie Graham asked her to come try the Island for a summer.

After considerable debate, Oak Bluffs voters approved a bylaw regulating the location of medical marijuana dispensaries at a special town meeting Tuesday night. With the vote, three sites in town will now be included in a medical marijuana overlay district and opened to special permitting.

Oak Bluffs will receive $2 million to install a boardwalk along Sea View avenue extension. The state Seaport Advisory Council announced Thursday that the town’s public access improvement project was one of 11 seaport community projects chosen to receive funding.
