Chappy Native Pens Kids’ Book, Talks About Growing Up Different

As a student at the Edgartown School, a counselor once told Chappaquiddick native Stephanie Duckworth-Elliott that she wouldn’t go to college, and implied that Ms. Duckworth-Elliott would not achieve in life. Book-signing events sprinkled throughout the season invite guests to engage their favorite authors. Perhaps best of all, this summer will welcome back a beloved book store on Main street Vineyard Haven after a year-long absence.

Perhaps success is a family trait, passed down through the generations by the grandfather who opened the Vineyard institution where they now spend all of their summer hours. Whatever the reason, as the Vineyard approaches an uncertain summer season, brothers Wilfred (Buster) Jr. and Richard (Richie) Giordano radiate carefree confidence that can come only from a combination of instinct and experience.
