Aquinnah is not the place to go looking for interesting houses without trespassing. Interesting stories, yes, but the houses visible from the road are few and far between. The exception of course is the Vanderhoop homestead.
The yellow house at the head of Camp street at William street is not for sale, has not been neglected and is not in need of restoration. It is that rare object: a house that has been cared for all of its long, long life.
My favorite road on the Island is Middle Road. I love its hills and its lovely views. What I love the most is the view from Brookside Farm.
During this snow siege that we have all endured, I began thinking of the Snow family of Edgartown. The name has disappeared from the annals of Edgartown, much as we all wish that this current snow would just up and leave.
Once located on Beach Street in Vineyard Haven where the Stop & Shop now stands, the Great House served for years as a tavern before being moved to its present location on West Chop.
The famous Pink House on the grounds of the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association is once again for sale. It is the most photographed of all the many photogenic houses in the Camp Ground.
