I turned 70 on March 6. The event passed painlessly. We were staying in a desert-side house near Santa Fe, and good friends arrived for dinner to offer their congratulations and commiserations.
It's a sign of the times that some of today's best bridge writing is on the Internet.
Audrey Egger has had five first-place finishes in Vineyard duplicate play this summer: twice when partnered with Miles Jaffe and once apiece with Barbara Besse, Barbara McLagan and me.
The subject of money in politics is front and center in this year’s campaign.
Bridge players at the Tisbury Council on Aging celebrated the third annual Rosemary Taylor Day on July 26. A popular player who used to say, “It’s a Bidder’s Game,” Taylor (July 29, 1923-July 9, 2009) would have loved seeing those words on the cake served in her memory last week. She’d also have loved seeing 10 full tables, with hand records available afterward under www.mvbridgefiles.com.
After 20 years spent teaching bidding, I’m instructing students in play of the hand this summer. My main textbook is Plan Before You Play by Howard Ringel.
