Spring postseason action is underway for Vineyard high school student-athletes and the track and field team kicked things off with a strong showing at the Cape and Islands League championship last week in Barnstable.

Summer baseball at the Shark Tank is right around the corner and this year’s squad is shaping up to have the kind of firepower that could give the Fourth of July fireworks a run for their money.

The Vineyard boys tennis team is tearing up the court so far this spring. Off to a seven and two record to start the season, the Vineyarders are leading their division.

With April vacation in the books, spring sports at the high school are at full sail as the Vineyard’s student athletes battle in their divisions across the water, diamond, court, field and track.

Spring sports are back in action at the high school and the weather isn’t the only thing heating up on the Island as the baseball team thumped Nantucket 10-0 on opening day Saturday and kept it rolling for a 6-1 win over Dennis Yarmouth on Tuesday.

Five Vineyard ballers will lace up for a last run on the court this season as the Cape and Islands league boys and girls All Star games are set to take place Sunday at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center.
