In the wake of the many police killings of unarmed young men in recent years, Sylvia Maier embarked on a new series, titled the Circle of Mothers Project. Selections from the series, along with related paintings and drawings, will show at Gallery Josephine in Oak Bluffs through June 13.

It is a tradition that dates back 28 years, and one in which artists line up to participate, donating at least 40 per cent of any earnings.
