Mind Your Manners
Children’s etiquette classes will be held at the Farm Neck Golf Club beginning in July. The classes will be taught by Elaine Carroll, founder of the East Coast School of Etiquette. Children may register any time for the Island libraries’ Summer Reading Program, a prize incentive program that began July 1. The Oak Bluffs library is adding a charity element.
Who is Mr. G?
His name is Greg Wilson and apart from widespread recognition for his locally crafted Mr. G’s Hot Sauce, he can be easily identified by his charismatic nature, sincere smile and animated personality, which coincide with unwavering passion and a determination to produce and brand the best hot sauce available on the market — locally, and worldwide.
That’s pretty spicy stuff.
Fresh Air for City Kids
Thousands of volunteer host families throughout 13 Northeastern states and Canada open their hearts and homes to New York city children from underprivileged communities through The Fresh Air Fund, which celebrates its 133rd summer this year.
There’s lots of wonderful things to eat, And wonderful games to play ... Today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
And for us humans? When the gods provide the weather — and they’ve been holding back so far this summer, so let’s hope they’ll be generous from here on — the Vineyard provides many an idyllic spot for a picnic and no shortage of sources to fill the basket with delectables. Pretty much any taste and budget can be satisfied. Seriously, where to begin?
Ted Morgan will be the guest speaker at historic Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs at 10 a.m. this Sunday. Mr. Morgan has recently returned from a memorable trip to Normandy for the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landing and will share his experiences at the service. The Rev. Dr. John Schule will lead the devotional section.
