Lobster Rolls
Grace Episcopal Church in Vineyard Haven will serve its last round of off-season lobster rolls this Sunday, April 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Enjoy a lobster roll, chips and a beverage for just $15 — a perfect way to lighten your wallet after tax returns. Hot dogs and assorted pies by the slice are also available. Call 508-693-0332 for more information or to place large orders.
Unable to make it? No need to worry about going lobster-less for long: the church’s regular Friday lobster rolls return next month.
State Road Restaurant’s Speakeasy Series returns next week with more unrivaled chances to mingle and speak with respected authors. This Tuesday, April 18, author John Hough Jr. will discuss Seen the Glory, a novel about the Battle of Gettysburg and two young brothers who volunteer to serve their country. Future participating authors include Alexandra Styron, who will speak about her book, Reading My Father, on May 16. On June 20 novelist Richard North Patterson will discuss his 20th novel, Fall from Grace, a family drama set on Martha’s Vineyard.
Cultural Luncheon
The Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living is holding the third in a series of cultural luncheons on Saturday, April 21, from noon to 2 p.m. at The Grill on Main in Edgartown. The luncheon will examine the history of the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association in Oak Bluffs. Tickets are $25, and are available by calling Leslie Clapp at 508-939-9440.
Beatles Play Vineyard
Tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. the Beatles are playing the Vineyard. Look closely and the Fab Four may resemble some local favorite musicians playing under the auspices of the Daytrippers, but close your eyes and be transported.
The concert takes place at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at the regional high school and is, in fact, a benefit concert for the PAC. The funds will be used to maintain and upgrade existing sound equipment and musical instruments in need of repair.
Sponsor Hildee Lewis
Hildee Lewis of Vineyard Haven will compete on behalf of the charity Grassroots Soccer in the Boston Marathon on April 15. The organization is seeking donations to sponsor Ms. Lewis and other runners as part of its campaign to educate, test and support those infected and at risk for AIDS.
