The Martha’s Vineyard Arena and YMCA announced this week that the two nonprofits have formed a new alliance. At the same time a new general manager has been hired for the Island ice arena.
It’s a little after noon on a wintry Wednesday, and Alex’s Place is hopping. The YMCA teen center, made possible by a gift from the Gagnon Foundation, is a growing hub for Island adolescents.
The Digital Connectors program at the YMCA is designed for 14 to 19 year olds interested in learning more about computers and technology. It is sponsored by Comcast and hosted at Alex's Place.
The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard becomes the place to be for the younger set this winter when its combines forces with the Yard for a dance program and then hosts a monthly gathering for teen girls.
High school juniors and their prom dates, as well as juniors who aren't going to the event, are welcome to attend the after prom party at the YMCA.
At the YMCA from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, kids and families are invited to take part in fun, creative activities that help foster a more active lifestyle.
