Bird flu made a resurgence on the Vineyard over the holidays after the disease wiped out half of the 350-bird flock at Slough Farm in Edgartown.

The front steps of the Agricultural Hall were filled with boxes of fresh produce and coolers of meat Monday afternoon at the Free Farmers’ Market.

The Slough Farm Foundation is sponsoring a new child care subsidy for middle-income families on Martha’s Vineyard. The new program is working in conjunction with Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.

The air smelled of straw, sawdust and livestock at the agricultural fairgrounds this Saturday, and the bahs ands bleets of sheep mingled with shouts of excited children.

On Saturday morning, the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society and Slough Farm hosted sheep shearer Siri Swanson, owner of Yankee Rock Farm in Orwell, Vt.

For dancers LaTasha Barnes and Caleb Teicher, a Vineyard artist residency was an opportunity to explore new creative possibilities in a way that has not been possible this year.
