In what has fast became a rite of spring, regional high school track and field teams again dominated their annual Mayflower League meet on Tuesday at Sacred Heart in Kingston. The girls team broke three league records en route to their fourth conference title in a row and the boys staged a late rally to capture their ninth title in a row.

Youth Lacrosse News

The under-11 boys youth lacrosse team narrowly lost to Bourne last Sunday 9-8. Scoring goals for the Vineyard were Henry Wallace (1), Greg McCarron (2) and Jack Garrett (5). An outstanding job was done by goalie Lucas DeBettencourt.

It was a jam-packed week in Vineyard sports, with high school teams playing a full slate of games, two charitable golf tournaments and the annual bike ride to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. And recreational and youth teams — including youth lacrosse and little league — have entered the stretch run of their seasons.

T he regional high school varsity girls’ lacrosse team remains undefeated halfway through the season at 11-0-0.

Youth Lacrosse

The under-11 boys’ youth lacrosse team beat Lakeville last Sunday 13-8. Donald O’Shaunesey scored two goals, Jackson Mahaffery had three goals, and Henry Wallace and Jack Garrett each scored four goals. The under-13 team lost to Lakeville the same day 6-5. Jack Yuen, Austin Chandler and Jeffrey McCormick each scored a goal and Spencer Schofield scored two goals in the loss. The under-15 team also lost to Lakeville on Sunday 8-1. The only goal was scored by Thomas Wilkins. Teams play this Sunday away at Bourne.
