It may not yet qualify as a dynasty, but the boys’ basketball team has clinched their third Eastern Athletic Conference title in as many years. The Vineyarders defeated Bishop Stang 61-47 Wednesday in the last league game of the season, finishing with a 7-1 record in the conference.
Both varsity hockey teams play on home ice Saturday in a pair of league matchups, with the boys playing their last Eastern Athletic Conference game of the regular season. Be sure to support the girls’ basketball team during one (or all) of their three home games this week. The team plays at 4:30 p.m. today, Tuesday and Thursday.
Students in Elaine Weintraub’s Irish history class at the regional high school took their studies outside on Monday, trying their hand at one of the oldest sports in the world, the Gaelic game of hurling.

The Nan Rheault Invitational tournament takes place this weekend at the MV Arena, spotlighting the girls’ hockey teams. Boys’ hockey and boys’ basketball also have home games.
