Surging swells severed Chappaquiddick from the Vineyard during a breach at Norton Point that has been growing since it formed New Year’s Day. 

Six sea turtles have washed up on Vineyard shores this season as water temperatures around the region begin to drop. 

Edgartown sent out a swimming advisory to beachgoers Wednesday after pieces of foam from Vineyard Wind’s broken wind turbine washed up on Norton Point and South Beach. 

The Dukes County Commission Wednesday approved Edgartown’s request to allow dogs on parts of the beach free of shorebirds as long as they are on a leash or lead.

In a report to the select board Monday, the town’s parks department said it sold 2,079 oversand vehicle stickers for a total of $266,210 in revenue, about the same as the former stewards of the property. 

The Edgartown select board voted Monday to send a letter to the state arguing against recent shorebird conservation rules.
