The Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club tournament saw a twist at the awards ceremony, when two Island brothers who are on active duty in the military made an appearance via Skype.
This year’s top honors for the Rod & Gun Club’s Black Powder Shoot went to Michael Ferry.
Brian Cioffi of Chilmark took first place in the Rod and Gun Club’s Top Gun fall championship honors. Participants in the Nov. 30 competition shot in three categories — over the shoulder, bulls eye and standing deer.
Raymond Sylvia from Vineyard Haven won the 2014 trap championship at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod & Club’s trap facilities on August 17, edging out Brian Welch of Oak Bluffs in a shoot-out.
Richard Carlson of Oak Bluffs defended his title and won the 2014 Rod and Gun Club’s Class A skeet championship with a score of 48x50.
Dick Carlson of Vineyard Haven shot perfect rounds of skeet at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod & Gun Club earlier this month, dusting 25 straight targets for the first time with his 28-gauge shotgun.
