Family Planning of Martha’s Vineyard and Connect to End Violence are set to strengthen their partnership with a collaboration that begins May 1. Call volume for domestic violence and rape counseling was up on the Island this winter.
An outreach and education manager in human services has been named director of Martha’s Vineyard Family Planning, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Brenda Grandizio most recently worked as a program instructor counseling young parents at Chester County Intermediate Unit, an educational agency which provides direct services to school districts outside of Philadelphia, Pa.
The works of over 120 Vineyard artists will be on display this weekend at the Agricultural Hall as Friends of Family Planning host their annual art show. The show opens today and runs through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Admission is free. A special Gala Preview Party was held Thursday night.
Island artists donate from 40 to 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of their work to benefit the cause. Appetizers and desserts are donated by Island restaurants, caterers and chefs.
The opening gala benefit is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury. Music will be provided by Jeremy Berlin.
