A 44-year-old Wareham woman has been charged with larceny after Edgartown police said she allegedly broke into and resided at an Edgartown home and sold or gave away items in the house.
Edgartown police said in a statement Wednesday they are running down leads based on responses from a community alert issued following the alleged assault on April 2 in the state forest. Police have a detailed description of the alleged attacker.

A week after police Chief Antone Bettencourt announced his retirement, the Edgartown selectmen have approved a plan to replace him. Labor attorney John M. (Jack) Collins will serve as interim chief while he helps the town identify a successor.
After more than 30 years with the Edgartown police department, including five years at the helm, Edgartown police chief Antone Bettencourt will retire in May.
“It’s time, you know, that’s the bottom line,” Chief Bettencourt said.
Edgartown seniors were treated to a hot meal at the Edgartown Fire Station Friday afternoon, compliments of the town’s Police Patrolmen’s Association. The beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes supper began with handmade crab cakes and ended with pie.
