On a historic day that saw unprecedented events in the nation’s capital, the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage on Martha’s Vineyard, with Island health agents reporting 25 new cases.

In the first report of the new year, the Island boards of health reported 28 new confirmed coronavirus cases Monday, as well as three new probable cases.

The last day of 2020 brought 21 new positive coronavirus tests on the Island — likely the highest number of Covid-19 cases reported in a single day since the pandemic began.

Three administrative employees at the Windemere nursing home have tested positive for Covid-19, hospital officials said Wednesday, as the hospital continues the early phases of its vaccine rollout.

The Steamship Authority cancelled two midday trips on its Vineyard route Wednesday after an employee assigned to the M/V Martha’s Vineyard tested positive for Covid-19, spokesman Sean Driscoll confirmed in a press release.
