Weekly cases of Covid-19 on Martha’s Vineyard dropped to single digits for the first time in months on Monday, as a late-summer case surge continues to dissipate on the Island.

Island health officials reported 27 new positive cases of Covid-19 last week, bringing case counts down to pre-summer levels after an August spike.

With an August spike in the rearview mirror, cases of Covid-19 on Martha’s Vineyard declined for the third week in a row and vaccination rates continued to inch higher, according to weekly virus reports.

Cases of Covid-19 on Martha’s Vineyard continue to dip but remain at the highest rates since the beginning of summer, as Labor Day weekend ends. Boards of health reported 62 cases between August 29 and Sept. 4.

As Labor Day weekend arrives, a second summer of Covid-19 continues to loom over the Island with case counts staying high, including many clusters among businesses.
