An Oak Bluffs man is facing numerous charges after police say he rammed a police car and drove off the Oak Bluffs Steamship Authority pier in an attempt to evade arrest. 

Waylon Sauer, a junior at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, was killed in a car accident Tuesday evening, prompting an outpouring of grief and support by members of the community.

Lorna Welch filed a complaint in Dukes County Superior Court last week asking a judge to order David C. Murphy to pay for her medical care for injuries she suffered when he allegedly drove his car through the Camp Ground.

Police arrested a man on drunken driving charges this weekend after he allegedly drove through a pedestrian-only neighborhood in the Camp Ground, damaging porches of two iconic Oak Bluffs gingerbread cottages and other property.

Around 4:20 p.m. a Toyota SUV crashed into Edgartown Meat and Fish, taking down a portion of the building near the meat counter.
