Author George C. Daughan will speak at the next Sail MV dinner/lecture on Wednesday, March 26, at 6 p.m. at the Black Dog Tavern in Vineyard Haven.

Sail Martha’s Vineyard welcomes journalist Sean McNeill to its second winter dinner/lecture at the Black Dog Tavern on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m.

The Holmes Hole Sailing Association is taking orders for its annual mid-winter dinner. This year it will be held at the Wharf Pub on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.

Nearly 173 years after she first set sail, the Charles W. Morgan has survived to earn a new distinction. She is the last surviving whaling ship and this spring she sets sail once again.

As a nod to authenticity of voyages of old, Mystic Seaport is holding a contest to put a stowaway on board the Charles W. Morgan, oldest surviving whaleboat, as it heads out this spring on a three-month voyage throughout New England.
