Run, don’t walk to sign up for the Pennywise Path Walk/Run to the new library in Edgartown set for Labor Day, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. Participants will be transported by bus from the Edgartown School, the site of the new library, to the start of the 5K race at the Pennywise Path Preserve off 18th street.
Even if you’re not of the athletic persuasion, you can still do your part to bring the Save the Gay Head Lighthouse Committee’s inaugural 5K to fruition.
Volunteers are needed to facilitate promotion, registration, site preparation and awards, as well as to staff medical/aid stations and water stations, provide course security and clean up after the event. The committee also needs a volunteer coordinator.
What do skateboards, oysters and champagne have in common? That would be Art in the Park, a benefit for the Martha’s Vineyard Skatepark taking place this Sunday, August 18, from noon to 3 p.m. at Atria on Main street in Edgartown.
The Save the Gay Head Lighthouse Committee has announced the inaugural Gay Head 10K road race, to be held Sunday, October 6. The event is a fundraiser to save the erosion-threatened landmark.
The committee must raise more than $3 million.
The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard is hosting its second annual Live Love event which combines fitness with giving back to the Island. The first Live Love Ride took place last year as a spin-a-thon. The event raised $10,160 for the Y financial assistance program.
Is your kid a super kid? The Vineyard Montessori School is now accepting applications for its summer program, Camp Super Kid, for children ages 2.9 to 7. Campers will use books to delve into magical worlds that bring the stories to life. Activities include movement and music, visual and theatre arts, scientific exploration, water play, cooking, field trips, and walks to the beach.
