Off-season on Martha's Vineyard has its own charms. The Island is quieter now. The white sand beaches are largely empty, and leaves that created a soft green canopy in the summer have turned yellow and orange and begun to fall. Nature seems to reassert itself. Birds headed south for the winter stop over in marshes and fields. In the Great Ponds, shellfishermen dressed in waders harvest scallops the way their grandparents taught them. The crowds are gone, but art galleries, shops and many restaurants remain open, and harvest time brings the bounty of the Island's many farms. Miles of bike paths and walking trails welcome visitors who appreciate the slower pace and the cooler air.  These are just a few of the reasons visitors from near and far travel to Martha’s Vineyard after Labor Day. We invite you to explore this site, brought to you by the Vineyard Gazette Media Group, and discover the many resources, activities and events that Martha’s Vineyard has to offer.
