We know the season in our bones. In the days after Thanksgiving beaches are lovely and wind-pierced places, and Vineyarders stepped out to walk off our festive celebrations. But no sooner then Sunday the wind and rain stripped down those few leaves that were left as a valiant but futile rear-guard on the gray branches of trees, and winter coats came out to stay.
