There is a better way to look at this new season. The sun in winter will now turn back toward the Northern Hemisphere, toward the Vineyard.
Since New Year's, the Island is enjoying five more minutes of sunlight than on the first day of winter. Winter blocks the call of seasons just past. Its purpose now is to move us forward toward those days of thaw, toward the arrival of spring.
