Suddenly May is rushing by and the lady slippers have begun to poke through the woodlands which are now spongy and wet from spring rains. The lowbush blueberries are a blanket of pale green, and in Island dooryards the lilacs are covered in purple. On the shoreline the woody stems of beach plum show off their blooms and soon rosa rugosa will be covered with flowers.
