Chilmark voters enthusiastically approved an $11 million project to build a joint firehouse and EMS building and breezed through a flurry of school spending articles and capital improvement projects at their annual town meeting Monday evening.

Edgartown voters head to the polls Tuesday for an unusual annual town election that has two ballot questions and a wide-open, write-in contest for town moderator. Polls are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In a ceremony held Sunday, seven members of the Edgartown fire department officially graduated from a two-part intensive state training course, bulking up the Island’s growing firefighting cohort.
