The Tuesday Gazette will carry full coverage of high graduation ceremonies, plus girls’ lacrosse. For news updates, check the Web site at mvgazette.com.
Tourism Meeting Slated
The state legislature’s joint committee on tourism, arts and cultural development will meet on Monday, June 9, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown.
Rep. Eric Turkington of Falmouth, co-chairman of the committee, said the Island is an especially appropriate place to meet, “since tourism, arts and culture are the key economic forces that drive the Vineyard economy.”
Health Fair
Health for Life, the Edgartown School Health Fair, is scheduled in the main lobby and cafeteria of the school on Monday, June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. Information will be available on childhood diabetes, yoga, bike safety, healthy foods and more.
Women’s Support
Pattern changing — a weekly support group exploring healthy and unhealthy patterns in relationships will begin on June 17, and will feature six weeks of discussions, skill building and support. If interested, please call Women’s Support Services at 508-693-7900, extension 219.
The Island’s surviving home health care agency has a full plate.
The Vineyard Nursing Association is moving quickly to absorb a 50 per cent increase in patients and a 20 per cent increase in employees while expanding its services and stepping up professional training for its employees, said Robert Tonti, chief executive officer of the association.
And Mr. Tonti has started the process of finding larger space to accommodate the unexpected growth.
