Michael Kim, the owner of Michael Kim Architecture in Brookline and the governor’s appointee on the commission, presented a study last week to the MVC that looked at the viability of housing for workers on employer-owned properties across the Island.

In a brief two-page judgment Wednesday, state Land Court judge Kevin Smith threw out the Oak Bluffs planning board’s denial of the project, saying it is protected under a provision of state law that allows educational uses to skirt some zoning restrictions. 

Working with wildlife biologists at BiodiversityWorks, seventh and eighth graders in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and West Tisbury spent this month reviewing images of mammals from camouflage cameras placed around the Vineyard.

From Nov. 24 to March 31, rides on the Vineyard Transit Authority will be free. Insteading of paying $1.25 per town for a ride, passengers can hop on the Island’s bus system without paying any fares as part of the “try transit” program sponsored by the state legislature.
