At the ferry line’s board of governors meeting Tuesday, Steamship staff said they were increasing the number of employees who can green light cancellations, expanding the call center hours and making other attempts to improve communication with customers about the status of ferries.

The select board Tuesday voted to hold a special town meeting on June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs Elementary School to reauthorize two borrowing articles that were approved at the 2022 annual town meeting. 

Chilmark landscaper, caretaker and former fishmonger Jeffrey Maida won a race for town select board on Wednesday night, narrowly beating out William Meegan by a vote of 267 to 222.

A hidden spreadsheet entry contained $1.8 million in long-forgotten funds — more than enough to balance the town’s $40 million budget, according to Tisbury finance director Jon Snyder.

Town meeting-floor modifications to the warrant led to a compromise solution, with a seven-member committee to be appointed by town moderator Janet Wiedner.
