John Stevens will head Edgartown School on an interim basis, with the school’s longtime guidance counselor Deborah DeBettencourt becoming assistant principal.

In a presentation to the select board Tuesday, Tighe & Bond, the company in charge of the East Chop revetment and coastal bank restoration project, anticipated that construction could start September 2025 and potentially end in May 2027. 

Aquinnah voters Tuesday also approved the town's $7.1 million budget and backed funding for town building repairs.

Susan Backlinie, who played the doomed skinny dipper Chrissie Watkins in Jaws, died May 11 at 77. The movie was released in 1975 and Ms. Backlinie became an enduring screen icon as the shark's first victim.
