A month after its 300-foot long blade folded over and scattered debris across the region, Vineyard Wind this week said a barge would be leaving New Bedford carrying several towers and one nacelle out to the construction site for installation.

Michael​​ Silvia, the Oak Bluffs Water District superintendent, told the select board last month that if changes aren’t made, the town will not be able to add new homes or other buildings to the water system in the coming years. 

At a public hearing, five residents of William Norton Road spoke out against the Martha’s Vineyard Shipyard’s application to build a 2,490-square foot repair workshop and a 5,000-square-foot outdoor boat storage pad at 49 Holmes Hole Road.

Charlie Ortmans, 19, won the Chilmark Road Race Saturday for the third year in a row with a time of 15:58. Lilly Tuck was the first female finisher.

The Steamship Authority got off to a rocky start this weekend after the reservation office in Mashpee lost power in a storm and several runs on the Vineyard Route were canceled.
