The following letter was sent to John Breckenridge, chairman of the harbor management committee:
As a long time Oak Bluffs voter, resident and taxpayer, I am writing to ask your help in understanding numerous confusing and seemingly contradictory harbor policies with regard to the annual Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tournament. I am a supporter of the forthcoming April 2013 “catch and release” referendum and look forward to your responses and thoughts on these important issues.
Tragedy unfolds in our country from the barrel of a gun every single day. One that will live in our hearts until infinity happened just before Christmas a th Sandy Hook Elementary School.
My last letter to the Gazette was sent many years ago in opposition to the effort to rename the town of Oak Bluffs. However, a recent article has spurred me to write again, primarily to support our democratic process.

On behalf of Adult and Community Education of Martha’s Vineyard (ACE MV), we want to express our deep gratitude to the Martha’s Vineyard Family Center of Community Services for all they do for our community. In particular, many thanks to Debbie Milne, director of Early Childhood Programs, Marney Toole, Family Services coordinator, and Cherish Harris, coordinator of the family center.
As president of the Tisbury Great Pond Association, I question the legality of the proposed 80-foot cell tower at the head of Town Cove.
Aside from the aesthetics, or lack thereof, necessity or appropriateness of such a construction, I am extremely concerned about the precedent this would be setting.
