A $7.4 million grant will boost a long-planned project to build a new rescue and firefighting building at the Martha’s Vineyard Airport.

The Edgartown selectmen this week accepted a gift of $574,000 for the town’s free public library. The donor has asked to remain anonymous. Library leaders said they were pleased and surprised.
