Kate DeVane founded the Island Autism group 13 years ago with Marcy Bettencourt. Together they have built a nonprofit that continues to grow and adapt.

The past year was one of adaptation for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Martha’s Vineyard as the organization grappled with how to keep Bigs and Littles connected during a pandemic.

Members of the Vineyard recovery community are mourning the death of Dennis Redican, an Island recovery stalwart and friend to many. Mr. Redican died Jan. 27 at the age of 74.

With the Covid-19 pandemic raging, the normally quiet down-Island Main streets have turned ghostly, as the off-season tests the Vineyard winter economy and social fabric.
