Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard sponsors a construction materials sale on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 475 Edgartown Road in Vineyard Haven.
The 2014 Red Stocking fund is distributing applications beginning Oct. 24 at various locations around the Island. Red Stocking has provided clothing, food and toys for Vineyard children in need from birth through eighth grade since the 1930s.
The YMCA's two-week boot camp runs daily until Oct. 31, with two class offerings, one at 6 a.m. and one at 11:30 a.m.

Allan (Buddy) deBettencourt was a teenager when he first joined the Oak Bluffs fire department; at the time his father also was a fireman. Buddy deBettencourt went on to serve 56 years, and with others was recognized in a ceremony last weekend.
