The organizers of Ladyfest Martha’s Vineyard recently announced a $25,000 contribution to CONNECT to End Violence, a program of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.
The Ladyfest weekend held in October drew a record audience and record amount of funds raised. Esperanza Spalding headlined the event, which featured an array of Island musicians.
For years Ladyfest had been held on Circuit avenue but moved this year to Waban Park. A highlight of this year’s show was a surprise performance by Carly Simon, joined by her children, Ben and Sally Taylor.
“Ladyfest exists to uplift and empower our Island community, and we are thrilled to direct this success toward supporting the life-changing work of CONNECT to End Violence,” Kelly Feiertag, one of Ladyfest’s founding organizers, wrote in statement announcing the donation.

Ted WTWhy cast negativity? It’s a wonderful event for the community that has put on quality, intimate performances with great artists and has been financially successful enough to make significant gifts to critical services. Nothing is to be gained by questioning attendance and the credibility of the organizers.
