I recall when the legislation was proposed and my reaction was - no way - this is nuts. But of course, it passed and we have had it all these decades. The idea itself is sound if you do not take into account the opportunities for mis-use. How many times have I seen a bunch of people having loads of fun zig-zagging along a road. Or how about two heavy people wobbling? The mopeds themselves are not dangerous, it is how they are used. Most, if not all, the moped dealers, I believe, are entrepreneurs with multiple businesses and are diversified. The banning would be inconvenient but no one is going to starve to death as a result of the ban. But it would make it somewhat safer. And now - we have fully electric bikes, scooters, and skateboards complicating matters. That is a subject for another day, but right now banning mopeds, I believe, for what it is worth, would be a fine decision.

The electric bikes are replacing the mopeds and the bike paths are safer than the roads except for those riding normal bikes. I have seen 2 riders on an electric bike.

I thought a few years back the moped ban would pass? I don’t understand what happened?
