Change We Can Believe In

To believe one vote / Can make a difference / Is an act of faith

To believe one vote

Can make a difference

Is an act of faith

Not a drop in the ocean

But a tsunami of sorts

Multiplying with tour de force

In a country of immigrants

Descendants of slaves

And the Indigenous

Ideally singing a common tune

In harmony with

WE the people

Not simply me, or you

But US, together

Keepers of the flame

Burning in our hearts

To be free and stay free

In the only possible way

By casting that single vote

As the bedrock

Of hope in our democracy

Believing WE the people

Will be the elected majority.

Powerful poem, Mr. Seymour!
Thank you for this, and for the wonderful portrait of the Obama family in Nov. 2008 from the vantage point of one standing below in the crowd. “Yes, we can.!”

Words so powerful, so true and much needed.

Thank you, Harry!

So well said. Now if we all acted together as we, the people, to keep our precious democracy safe perhaps we could live free from the violence threatened by the power hungry.
