A Tisbury police officer sustained minor injuries Tuesday night after the police cruiser she was driving crashed into a tree on State Road. According to state police Sgt. Thomas Medeiros, police officer Kelly Kershaw was taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and later released after the police cruiser crashed a little after 7 p.m. Tuesday night near Mayflower Lane.

According to state police Sgt. Thomas Medeiros, police officer Kelly Kershaw was taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and later released after the police cruiser crashed a little after 7 p.m. Tuesday night near Mayflower Lane in Vineyard Haven.
Sergeant Medeiros said the accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
The police cruiser sustained “extensive front-end damage,” he said, and would likely be a total loss.
