The Tisbury master plan steering committee and consultant team are holding open meetings Wednesday, with seasonal residents in mind.
The process of developing Tisbury’s first-ever master plan is going public this week, with a pair of events on August 10 that are aimed particularly at seasonal Island residents.
Members of the master plan steering committee and consultant team will hold open meetings from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the emergency services building on West Spring street, and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Vineyard Haven Library courtyard (indoors if raining).
“These sessions are key to giving seasonal residents the opportunity to meet [the committee and consultant Judi Barrett of Barrett Planning Group] in person to discuss strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and challenges faced by the town,” master plan administrator Dan Doyle wrote to the Gazette in an email announcing the events.
Non-residents who spend time in Tisbury are also invited to the hour-long gatherings, continued Mr. Doyle, a planner with the Martha’s Vineyard Commission who is on part-time loan to the town of Tisbury as it builds its master plan.
At last year’s annual town meeting, voters authorized $145,000 for the master plan process.
There will be more public engagement events in the months to come, Mr. Doyle told the Gazette.
“These sessions will be catered toward Tisbury residents, but not exclusive to them. If you live, work, or play in Tisbury you are welcome to join,” he wrote.

You know a couple of years
Dean CharetteYou know a couple of years ago there was a big plan to chop all the areas it is into quadrants and they were gonna be quadrant chiefs to monitor all the illegal parking by by workers and businesses and all that stuff whatever happened to that? Nothing that's what happened
There are design-Specific
Theo Polean VHThere are design-Specific density studies of Downtown Tisbury, recorded and rendered by MVC, with many 3D simulations of different approaches of developments. They were produced while Mr. Mark London was the director at MVC. The reports are quite eye-opening, still relevant today.
Mr. London then handed them and many other resources over to VH planning board right before his retirement.
* Has VH Planning board offered the resources to MP committee?
And, I wonder why Vision Planning has not been activated (for "transparent" public input) and, with these invaluable resources shared to the public, to imagine the future in a tangible manner.
