Doors open wide / To horizon’s illusions / Of noble ideals / “Independence,” equality,” / “Freedom,” and “justice”
Doors open wide
To horizon’s illusions
Of noble ideals
“Independence,” equality,”
“Freedom,” and “justice”
Exploding like fireworks
Brightening the sky
Rising ever so high
Only to dissolve into dust
Falling on fertile soil
Of still a young nation
Born of insurrection
Divided by free and unfree
Both striving for independence
The “beacon” for millions
Fleeing darkness
Like moths to light
Seeking a better life
“Yearning to be free”
Not because USA is perfect
But for what it strives to be
A work in progress
Reaching beyond its grasp
To one day arrive
By the 4th of July.

Gale Fulton Ross Camarillo, CAThis is a marvelous little poem about who we are and are not at this point and time in America. The color tones and sentiment in accompanying painting match the words perfectly and poetically. Bravo Harry!
