An online fund drive for the Bunch of Grapes bookstore in Vineyard Haven has raised more than $54,000.

Owner Dawn Braasch created the campaign Sunday on the GoFundMe platform to meet expenses for the bookstore, which closed its doors a month ago due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have shortfalls every year during the slow winter months, and I have been able to bridge the gap when needed. That is no longer possible,” Ms. Braasch wrote.

Nearly 500 donors, including many Island authors, had contributed sums of from $20 to $2,500 by Tuesday morning. The Help for Bunch of Grapes campaign is posted at gofundme.com/f/gc28t8.
