Updates on the Woods Hole terminal reconstruction project and ongoing internal management improvements are on the agenda when Steamship Authority governors hold their monthly meeting in Falmouth this morning.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m. in the administration building on Palmer avenue.
Governors are expected to see a demonstration of a software-based learning management system that the ferry line is switching over to on recommendation of independent consultants at HMS Glosten in Seattle. The new system will replace the paper manuals, memos and updates that boat line employees formerly relied on.
The $60 million shoreside reconstruction project in Woods Hole began a year ago and remains ongoing.
On Wednesday the boat line will air a new design concept for the terminal building at two open house sessions at the Palmer avenues offices, from 3 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. Diagrams are posted online.
Also Tuesday governors will go into executive session to discuss civil litigation and the potential lease or acquisition of real estate.
The complete agenda is posted online.

maybe they could discuss why
jon west tismaybe they could discuss why the website crashed AGAIN today when general reservations opened. They cannot get anything right. they all should be fired and we should start fresh. or maybe they could listen to the advice of the expensive study that was commissioned and follow the suggestions the experts put forth. such a disgrace
Perhaps someone can bring up
Joe Smalls MAPerhaps someone can bring up the woeful state of SSA's website today? All of us summer visitors were up again at 5am staring at a crashed website, wondering when/how we will be able to buy our SSA tickets for the summer. Every year, it's the same problem. Too many customers trying to get on an aging website without enough servers. It would be hilarious, if it wasn't so aggravating (and at 5am, no less).
Let's face it. The SSA is
T Bone Oak BluffsLet's face it. The SSA is run by a weak Board and an accountant. We'll never have a first class SSA until changes are made at the top. The focus needs to be on operations, not playing with bigger boats and cheap solutions.
And so after waking up early
Roger E BostonAnd so after waking up early this morning, and then moving my schedule around to be free at noon today, the website is still not working. This should not be rocket science. Time for a new web site, a new IT team, a new server, and a new management team. If this was a publicly traded company, they all would have been fired a long time ago!
They should schedule the
JASON yakimaThey should schedule the meeting for 5 AM, then 9 AM, then Noon, then "WHO KNOWS?!"
Why don't they video all SSA
Jack A. West TisburyWhy don't they video all SSA governor meetings? Surely, they can afford to provide the public they support with all of the information possible about the workings of SSA.
All of the folks who can't
island girl islandAll of the folks who can't make reservations can share the woes of all of us, we the people who live here, who are constantly having to juggle reservations in order to deal with "life." Or else we have to have an off-island car. Get over it. It could be summer with no reservations available unless you made them back in January when they all got gobbled up by the folks who want to hoard reservations for the folks who may be renting their houses.
