John Fogerty will headline Beach Road Weekend, the three-day music festival in Vineyard Haven, along with Grace Potter, Dispatch, The Original Wailers and more.
John Fogerty will headline Beach Road Weekend, the three-day music festival to be held August 9 to 11 at Veterans Memorial Park in Vineyard Haven.
“His music is classic and we are playing on a ball field,” music promoter and seasonal resident Adam Epstein said by phone, referring to Mr. Fogerty’s solo hit, Centerfield. Mr. Epstein is the CEO of Innovation Arts and Entertainment, which also produces the MV Concert Series.
“There is a strong Creedence and Fogerty audience on the Island,” he added.
Other performers announced today include Grace Potter and Dispatch.
“Grace is like a daughter of the Island,” Mr. Epstein said. “She has a huge following here and it will be good to have her back.”
Chadwick Stokes, the lead singer of Dispatch, also has a long history with the Vineyard, having worked at Camp Jabberwocky when he was a teenager.
It has been a long journey for the proposed outdoor summer concert and although the town has granted Mr. Epstein permission to use the park and is coordinating with him on the logistics of the event, selectmen have yet to sign a formal contract.
According to selectman Melinda Loberg there are some details still to be worked out.
“Mr. Epstein has been working with Jay Grande [town administrator] on public safety, police and parking issues and it has been moving forward but they have still not signed a formal contract,” she said.
Mr. Epstein confirmed that a final contract does still need to be signed but said only a few small details remain to be worked out. “The foundation is solid and we are just doing some back and forth on the minutia,” he said.
Other bands announced include Galactic, Matisyahu, The Original Wailers, Alejandro Escovedo, Mason Jennings, and the North Mississippi Allstars.
“It is a well rounded lineup of reggae, blues and Americana that should have something for everyone,” Mr. Epstein said.
He also hinted at a big name to be announced who will close out the festival on Sunday night.
The festival will feature one stage, located near the basketball and volleyball courts.
“And there will be three massive video screens,” Mr. Epstein said.
To open the festival the Cape Cod Symphony will play a live accompaniment to a screening of Jaws.
“You will be able to see and hear it all the way to Cumberland Farms,” Mr. Epstein said.

Shirley's should have a run
Pete Finn TisburyShirley's should have a run on alarm clocks that weekend to wake the not so crowed snooze-fest lineup of acts.Sorry kind of lame line up.What is it like an over 60 only show? By the way why no hip-hop or rap artists?

You are correct Jane! O.B
MJP Oak BluffsYou are correct Jane! O.B will be super busy! I believe that is also around the time King,Underwood and the NAACP plan to have one of their protests / demonstrations about taking off a couple of the plaques on our Civil War Staute which in our opinion was a dediction from soldiers to soldiers to heal their differences just like the over 1,400 memorials and monuments in Vicksburg. Our extensive research finds it's meaning has nothing to due with race and slavery as some complain.

I was hoping for Ringo Starr
Kimmy Walker Vineyard HavenI was hoping for Ringo Starr and his all-star band. I've heard they sell nearly 5,000 tickets per show in the mid-west. I believe John Fogerty is a solid Trump and NRA supporter. Not a good vibe for my would have purchased ticket money.I'm happy that it doesn't cost to stay away.

Galactic, North Miss Allstars
Linda Stevens Evanston, ILGalactic, North Miss Allstars and John Fogerty all played at New Orleans Jazz Fest this past weekend. Great job to Adam and team getting this lineup. Let's hope this is the 1st annual of many great music festivals on the island!
There will always be Debby
RT Vineyard HavenThere will always be Debby Downers, but this is a fun lineup, and given the short time frame this group had to put together a lineup. I'd say we should be thankful. I look forward to a fun weekend, and once the dust settles and Vineyard Haven does not collapse on itself, then the producers can have a year putting together an even better lineup for summer 2020. Lastly, I'd love to see this moved to late July, and try and spread the summer events around. Too much happening just in August.
Glad to see the announced
Really?! Vineyard HavenGlad to see the announced talent. Some math still puzzles me. Let's say 5000 people, 4 per car, that is 1250 cars. Before everyone goes nuts, some will arrive by bus. OK, 5000 people at 72 people per school bus, that is 70+ school bus trips since they will not all run full, but they have to park and get picked up somewhere. I read about the non-profit partnership where they get to keep the parking fees if they can secure 20 spots or greater with owners permission. The PAC has its own event listed on Saturday, so parking there seems a bit limited at least for Saturday. I guess parking on the field in OB where fireworks folks park would work. But the 5 corners mess will make bus trips less than desirable. Ag Hall parking, OK, but that is not really a fun trip back by bus if you have been consuming alcohol. Please tell us where all these cars and buses are going to be while all those ferries are unloading in VH. Just tell us so everyone who lives and moves around HV can plan our lives that weekend. It is only 3 months from now. Maybe I should just plan for an Our Market delivery on Wednesday and hide until Monday. It's not a criticism. Just Tell us Keyboard Warriors or post it where we can all see it.
The same way people get to
really squared Vineyard HavenThe same way people get to and from the fireworks with the President of the United States watching them from Sea View Ave. It's going to be busy, people wait for busses in OB when the fireworks let out and people park in the street in the neighborhoods. It's not the end of the world. Plus it lets out late at night and there's never anyone in VH after 7 pm anyways.
Wow what a bunch of big
jim NYCWow what a bunch of big Island babies whah whahing all over the place -- think it is awesome for Epstein and Company to keep on bringing great talent to a great place and unfolding this show over a few days. It is terrific ! No politics, no agenda -- just unity around great music, great show and great time on the greatest Island of all. Is it that too hard for the Vineyard babies to appreciate ? Or do they think they need to direct and control everything?
