Last year goat yoga came to Chilmark. This year make way for sun salutations with even bigger farm animals as alpaca yoga begins in Oak Bluffs.

Island Alpaca is now offering yoga classes for all experience. Classes are held in the pasture near the alpaca herd.

Yoga instructors Isabella Gillies and Liz Kass, the barn manager, will led one-hour yoga sessions twice a week. The classes are followed by a meet and greet with alpacas, including newborn cria (baby alpacas).

Alpaca yoga starts July 2. Classes are held Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The cost is $30 per person per session. Class size is limited and pre-registration suggested by phone at 508-693-5554, online at alpacayoga.com, or in person at the farm at 1 Head of the Pond Road in Oak Bluffs. Children under 14 may participate with an accompanying adult.

Meanwhile the popular goat yoga program has returned this summer at Native Earth Teaching Farm in Chilmark with instructor Josey Kirkland. The program featuring the farm’s pygmy goats resumed again June 2. Classes are held Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. Classes run a little over an hour and cost $25. To register email [email protected]. Participants must be 13 years old or older.

Native Earth is at 94 North Road in Chilmark.

To complete the animal yoga trifecta, the Martha’s Vineyard Community Horse Center has discussed offering horse yoga. Classes aren’t on the schedule yet, according to the horse center, but there may be pop up classes this summer. Check mvhorsecenter.org.

Sometimes two great things aren't enhanced when combined. Note that alpaca demonstrate dominant behavior by mounting and spitting. They are wonderful but skittish beasts. You won't catch me in downward dog with alpaca in the neighborhood. Keep your spirit centered and do not show fear! Namaste from West Tis!

I attended this class at Island Alpaca and those Alpaca were wonderful. They are peaceful and aggressive creatures. The alpaca grazed the whole class it was awesome.

Alpacas are actually very docile creatures, they only spit over food and dominance. They will not mount or make aggressive moves towards humans. They may be skiddish, but that is only because they are very defenseless creatures and can cause no harm! #rockonalpacas
